      Hi Mia and Danielle,

For me it’s all about the mystery. The brain controls everything we do and say, it makes our personality and allows us to think and feel, but we know so little about why it works and how it grows. To me the brain is fascinating, it’s more than just blood and bone and skin, it’s pure consciousness, and the most complex thing in the universe.

But when things go wrong with the brain, people can fall apart, losing their mind or their ability to move and speak and think. Brain diseases were so shocking to me, especially the dementia in older members of my family, that I knew I wanted to know more, and to help science move forward and find out more about the mysterious brain, to help people with these kinds of diseases.
