If I include regular holidays then all over the shop! Florida, Dominican republic, a few places in spain, Prague (for my stag week! 🙂 ), Paris, and quite a few more. I also used to live in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands for a while when I was younger!
In terms of backpacker travelling – only Thailand and Malaysia so far, although me and the Mrs are in the middle of planning a 6 week trip to SE Asia next Autumn, we’re looking at doing thailand again (love Bangkok) followed by Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia, and maybe stopping in Dubai for a couple of days on the way home 🙂
I honestly think everyone should do it if they can! And asia is amazing. I was a bit nervous before thailand as i didnt know what to expect but the people are so friendly! Im always recommending it to people and they say ‘oh i cant afford it’ but in reality the flight is the only expensive part of it, and even that isnt too bad if you book in advance! Hotels, food, etc. are dirt cheap, I stayed in a brilliant hotel in Bangkok for £8 per night! 🙂

I covered all the places I visited for science in the other question you asked, so here I’ll cover more general!
As a student I did some backpacking round Europe for a Eurotrip, it’s an amazing time, I visited Germany (Berlin), Czech (Prague), Austria (Vienna), Slovakia (Bratislava) and Hungary (Budapest), would recommend them all, it’s a great route if you use Interrail and get the cheap trains! Another time I did a shorter trip with my girlfriend, covering Bulgaria (Plovdiv and Sofia), Turkey (Istanbul and Buyukada), Greece (Athens), Italy (Rome) and Spain (Barcelona), I used planes for that one but each and every place was amazing.
Only been out of Europe for South Africa, so next time I intend to go to America and Asia!
