      Hi Jazzy.Painter,

It was fab, he gave a talk on the Higgs boson, he actually doesn’t like that name, as he worked with a bunch of other people on it. The mechanism by which the Higgs Boson interacts with the Higgs field is via a medium known as the Higgs Englert Mechanism, if you’ve done stuff to do with the standard model of particles you can think of it as a virtual boson mediated gauge field, which basically means that things which have mass interact with a mass field, and how much they interact with that field determines how much mass they have. He also spoke about abosolute vacuums, which are cool, essentially you know how space is a vacuum? Well it’s not a proper one, there are virtual complementary particles appearing all the time, if the universe fell into the lower energy state, a true vacuum, it would spread at the speed of light everywhere destroying everything, we wouldn’t know what hit us. But we don’t know if or when that might happen. A really nice guy. An amazing scientist,

Hope that helps and very happy to answer more questions about that!
