      Hi Roxy Rider,

In terms of my research they are important because they are both simple and relevant to modern biology and could have been around on the early Earth as a stepping stone towards the cell as we know it today. Fatty acids are prevalent in all cells and are used to transport various cargo around the interiors or between cells. Polymers are important because they have very fine chemistry that can be tuned to make anything from plastics to hair gels!

      Hope that helps?
