• Question: what is it like working with people that have cancer?

      Well my job doesn’t involve a lot of day to day interaction with patients, although I do get some.

      At first it was a bit upsetting but I think you just have to keep positive and know that what you’re doing is helping them. In a way it’s a positive thing that they’re there because at least their disease has been diagnosed and they’re receiving treatment.

      Also, as bad as it sounds, I think you do become sort of hardened to it. When you see hundreds of cancer patients walking around the hospital every day then in the end it becomes normal. There are some cases that occasionally get to you though, especially when we have to treat children – although this is thankfully quite rare!
