      Thats a really interesting question!

Work is sometimes hard, because I care about what I work on and want to succeed and get results. Especially when I was doing my PhD, sometimes it would get very frustrating if things weren’t working, or equipment was broken so I couldn’t do experiments. I still love being a scientist though, even though there are occasional days when I want to give up!

I tend to find that if I want to give up, its because I’m tired. Every time I’ve felt like giving up a good nights sleep has made things seem so much better in the morning!

p.s. I love the fact your favourite scientist is your teacher! I had great science teachers when I was in school, and it makes a massive difference to how fun and interesting lessons are! I’m sure you’d make a great teacher too 🙂

It does get hard sometimes, for a few different reasons! I could just be very busy for a few weeks, or I could be working on a project that just isn’t going well but I dont think it ever makes me want to give up! Like Bex said, a good nights sleep normally fixes everything! 🙂

Yes it does get hard! When you have a long day, or a hard experiment it can be frustrating. We have a saying where I work – the first time you try something it will work perfectly, the next 20 times it wont work at all’. And it is sometimes true – you can do the same thing repeatedly and it might not work. That is hard to deal with, and can make you want to give in. If that happens, I try and go for a walk, or take the afternoon off to do something else, calm down, and rethink it. This usually helps to come back the next day with fresh eyes and make it work!
it does help that there is a team of us working on similar things in the lab, so we can bounce ideas off each other and come up with new ideas to make it easier 🙂
