I’d say yes! But that is mainly because as a scientist, I mainly work with other scientists, so work dos are always great fun!

Your job gives you a whole new circle of friends to interact with, and when they all do the same job as you and have the same interests, it means there is always a fun time. I still have my friends from before I was a scientist, and I will make many more friends in the future, but it’s more down to me as a person than what I do as a job 😀

I’d say yes! You work with lots of like minded people, and lots of different people from around the world, and its a great environment to make friends.

I moved to Leeds for my PhD, and I’ve been here 5 years now. Almost all of my friends here I met at the University!

I think whenever you start a new job you meet new people and make new friends, but particularly in science you normally get good opportunities to ‘network’ – meeting people from other hospitals (in my case) and even other countries. So yeah I think it helps!
